16/04/16 The Memorial Stadium Rory Gaffney (42) Matty Taylor (77) 2 - 1 Leroy Lita (73) REFEREE: PAUL TIERNEY ATTENDANCE: 10,264 Yeovil lost 2-1 in a thrilling end-to-end encounter at the Memorial Stadium. Rory Gaffney scored for the home side and despite Leroy Lita’s pinpoint equaliser, Matty Taylor scored the winning goal with 13 minutes remaining. Manager Darren Way made three changes from the team that faced Exeter City seven days ago. Jack Compton, Brandon Goodship and Matt Dolan came in for Ben Tozer, Kevin Dawson and Tahvon Campbell. The first half was played at a frenetic pace with both sides intent on attacking. Bristol Rovers started well and came close on 11 minutes when Matty Taylor hit the post. Artur Krysiak could only parry Rory Gaffney’s initial effort but Taylor’s shot deflected wide off the woodwork. Brandon Goodship nearly made them pay four minutes later, shooting just over from Francois Zoko’s right wing cross. Rovers front two were looking dangerous but the Glovers defended well, with Nathan Smith making a number of crucial interceptions. Yeovil goalkeeper Artur Krysiak showed great reactions to stop Gaffney’s 26th minute goalbound header. Francois Zoko shot wide with an opportunistic effort on 27 minutes before Rovers opened the scoring just prior to half-time. Billy Bodin’s free kick was headed home by the unmarked Gaffney to spark home celebrations. In the second half, the Glovers were playing better and equalised on 73 minutes. Leroy Lita collected a great cross-field pass from captain Ryan Dickson and brilliantly fired home to send the away fans into raptures. Rovers hit back immediately with Matty Taylor finishing after the Glovers failed to clear their lines. Marc Laird hit the bar in injury-time for Yeovil but in the end, the Glovers were narrowly defeated. Despite the defeat Town secured their Football League status because of both Dagenham and Redbridge and York City losing
