Up at 6.00, got bus to B Sth caught 6.43 (375804) to Vic, tube to St Pancras for 7.58 (222008) to Sheffield arr 10.00. Got 10.14 tram (used Freedom pass) to Tinsley/Meadowhall South, arr 10.30 and walked the canal towpath (signed Trans Pennine Trail) to Rotherham which runs beside the New York stadium. Walked thru'' town taking photos of closed but attractive old pubs, to Clifton museum and park, for lunch and a look round arr 11.45. Its a warm day with high cloud, and I''m enjoying the day. Walk down to town and I''ve now heard from Dixie and Adam (Mike not with us as he''s recovering from his heart operation) that they are in the Bridge Inn and I''ll join them soon. But first to visit the church (3 star in my book) but its locked up. Walking thru'' town, I notice many muslim ladies, but none with a niqab. The town is run down in many places, it''s steel industry long gone. Then on to Millmoor, Rotherham''s old ground, still there, the grass cut. Walked back to the Bridge Inn, arr 13.20, busy but not crowded, and found Dix and Adam in the outside area. Had a pint of Little Mester, and got drinks for the lads. Left the pub at 14.00 to walk to the New York stadium, passed the old brass works building of Guest and Chrimes by the canal. My ticket was £13, prog £3, we had good seats behind the goal. Had a pie and tea before the game £5. There are 704 Fulham fans here. Former Millers player Ben Pringle scored after 7 mins, and Ross McCormack scored a penalty after 16. This looking good! Rotherham created chances but couldn''t finish. In the second half they got a pen which Lonergan saved, but after 72 mins they scored, and I felt the game could drift away from us as it had so often in earlier games. But we held on and even managed a third in injury time from Cauley Woodrow. Left happy, walked to the station together but went our separate ways there as they were going back via Doncaster, while I''m via Sheffield. Got 17.49 (222014) from Sheffield, arr St P 20.04 in the rain. Tube, 20.31 from Vic, ran 200 yards to catch 138 in Westmoreland Rd, and home at 21.05. Good day.
