Usual ferry from Holyhead decided not to spend more time in Dublin than necessary but due to a particularly slow disembarkation of foot passengers I missed my 13.20 train from Connolly station and had to wait two hours for the next one. Originally concerned i''d be too early I hoped on the Belfast train Drogheda was the first stop but I paid for a return to Dundalk one stop further as I was told I could break my journey on the return leg. Time was now at a premium but I had 50minutes to check out Dundalks Oriel park before heading back to Drogheda luckily it was close to the station only 5 minutes away. I wasn''t as lucky with Drogheda as the ground was a half hour walk away which was a concern as the last train back to Dublin and my ferry home was at 22.05! A connection i''d made on a previous game came up trumps and put me in touch with an official at Drogs who looked after me letting me walk around the ground taking pictures and a free programme etc. The game was very physical with little goal mouth action but Shiels came close with a shot knocked onto the crossbar by the keeper. Towards the end a few flares went off in the away section and five added minutes went up which I couldn''t afford to stay for as I legged it for the train, my heart was in my mouth as I approached the station with a train on the platform and sweat on my furrowed brow but I need not have worried as mine was on another platform, that said it wasn''t manned and nothing on the platform indicated it was the right one! Former rovers player Sean Thornton played for the drogs a few seasons ago and rovers had played a friendly here back in the 90''s
