Tram to Morden Road, bus and walk to the Nelson, to meet Mike, Chris and Harry (Dad) Brennan, Chris'' son Robert, nephew Harry ( a Bolton fan) and two schoolmates, Matt and Ben. Had a couple of pints and a chat.
Mike''s sister Debbie, also Harry''s mum, drove the 2 Harry''s and me to Plough Lane, the rest walked.
The new stadium built on the footprint of the old speedway/greyhound stadium, is surrounded by a wall enclosing the catering and toilets, which in turn is surrounded by blocks of new flats, the whole area redeveloped.
This was the first full capacity match to be held following the Covid outbreak, altho'' it opened 10 months ago with no fans. And those fans are delighted to be back ''home'' at Plough Lane. Even the program (Ł3) is headed BTPL (Back to Plough Lane). 1,400 Bolton fans included in the 8,500 sellout.
Dons scored first, Bolton then scored 3 times, but Dons got 2 quick goals in second half, for a 3 - 3 draw.
Debbie drove the 3 of us back, dropping me off at the tram stop which was good of her. Mike and the lads went back to the Nelson until 20.00. Mike sent me some videos of young Harry, well plastered singing his heart out. And he''s a year 6 teacher!!
I got home at 18.30, Eve not friendly, and I''m straight into getting our meal.
But a good day out.
