A special day out with Sue, Charlie, Simon, Dave and Miranda (for her first ever football match).
A beuatiful cold but bright day, so train from Wrenbury down to Wolverhampton, a swift beer in the Great Western and then a walk through the middle of town to the ground.
The WV1 lounge is brand new and excellent. Open windows as both ends with a view to the north of Wolverhampton at one end and onto the (almost suqare) pitch at the other. A good lunch and a couple of drinks and then a short walk out to (very comfortable) seats.
I love the Hi Ho Wolverhampton song as the teams come out. Best in the leagues (so far).
Only problem really is the it is that being a north stand the sun was in our eyes for the whole of the first half making watching difficult. The second half was easier but a lot colder.
Football quality not brilliant but still entertaining. Wolves bossed the first half but a tactical change by Charlton for the second half gave them the edge and Wolves looked completely foxed by it. In the end Charlton could have (and should have) won it in teh dying minutes with a dreadful miss in front of goal.
After the match a gentle relax in the lounge before walking back to the station (stopping for a swifty on the way).
Quote of the day (from a bloke sat behind us):- They're like a bull at a china gate.
Work that one out !!!
